Frequently Asked Questions

Getting Started & Basics

What is kwizkid?

kwizkid is a web platform for creating and hosting interactive live quizzes. Whether it's a pub quiz, corporate event, team building, birthday party, family gathering, entertainment program, charity event, or school project — you create your own questions (or let our AI whip them up for you), share a link with your players, and host the whole thing live. Participants play along on their phone or laptop, scores are calculated automatically, and there's a winner ceremony at the end.

Do I need an account?

Yes, as a quiz host you'll need a free account. Your players, on the other hand, don't need one — they just click the quiz link or scan the QR code and they're good to go.

Do I need an app as a host?

Nope. kwizkid runs entirely in your browser — on your phone, tablet, or laptop. Just head to kwizkid.live and you're off. No installation needed.

Do participants or players need an app or registration?

Nope. kwizkid runs entirely in the browser — on phone, tablet, or laptop. Neither you nor your players need to install anything.

Here's how it works for participants:

  • Click the quiz link or scan the QR code
  • Pick a team name
  • Invite others to join the team or play solo
  • Done! Ready in under 30 seconds

Works on all devices: iOS, Android, Windows, Mac — anywhere a modern browser runs. No installation, no account, no hassle.

Do I need a laptop as a host?

Not necessarily — you can run an entire quiz from your phone. That said, for prep work (entering questions, setting up answers), a laptop or tablet is way more comfortable. For the live hosting itself, your phone works just fine.

Do I need a separate device as a host (for the presentation)?

Recommended, but not required! Ideally, you have your own device (laptop, tablet) for the host view, and a second display (projector/TV) for participants. That way you see all answers and controls, while participants only see the current question.

Many hosts use their laptop for controls and mirror the presentation mode onto a TV. If you don't have two devices, it still works — just involves a bit more window juggling.

How do I create my first quiz?

Sign up for free at kwizkid.live and click "Create New Quiz." Choose whether to start from scratch or use one of our ready-made templates. Give your quiz a name and add questions — either manually or with our AI assistant, which generates questions on any topic in seconds.

Once you're done, hit "Let's go," share the QR code or link with your participants, and you're ready to roll! The Free plan allows up to 10 questions and 5 teams — perfect for a test run.

How many participants can play at the same time?

That depends on your plan:

  • Free: Up to 5 teams — great for small rounds with friends or family
  • Single (€15): Up to 20 teams — perfect for private parties or events
  • Flat (from €57/month): Unlimited participants — whether it's 30, 50, 200, or more.

Check out the full details on our pricing page.

The platform runs smooth and fast even with hundreds of participants.

Can I try kwizkid for free?

Yes! The Free plan stays free forever. You can play up to 10 questions per quiz with up to 5 teams (or 5 solo players). That's plenty for trying things out or small get-togethers. No credit card required, no automatic subscription.

Does kwizkid work on all devices?

Absolutely! kwizkid runs 100% in the browser and works on any device with an internet connection: smartphones (iOS and Android), tablets, laptops, desktop PCs — even smart TVs with a browser.

The interface automatically adapts to your screen size. As a host, you can prep the quiz on one device and host it on another — totally flexible!

Do I need to be tech-savvy to use kwizkid?

Not at all! kwizkid was designed so that even people without any tech know-how can jump right in. The interface is intuitive, buttons are self-explanatory, and you're guided step by step.

If you do run into a question, we've got tutorials, a detailed knowledge base, and a support team that gets back to you in no time.

Can I use kwizkid offline?

No, kwizkid needs an active internet connection since all quiz logic, synchronization, and scoring happens in real time on our servers. But that's also the upside: all participants see their answers instantly, the leaderboard updates live, and you don't have to tally anything manually.

If you're hosting somewhere without internet, a mobile hotspot from your phone could do the trick. Bandwidth requirements are low — even a 3G connection usually works fine.

How is kwizkid different from other providers?

kwizkid was built specifically for interactive live quiz events and live hosting: no collecting answers on paper or tedious manual scoring. Real-time leaderboards, solo or team mode, various question types, automatic scoring, and professional presentation modes. You focus on hosting — kwizkid handles the technical stuff.

Can I switch between different languages?

Yes! kwizkid currently offers the platform in German, English, and Dutch. You can switch the language anytime in your settings.

Good to know: the platform language (buttons, menus, etc.) and the language of your quiz content are independent. So you can have a German interface but write questions in English, French, or any other language — kwizkid supports Unicode, so special characters, Cyrillic, or Asian scripts all work perfectly.

What data do I need to provide when signing up?

Signing up for kwizkid is super lean! All you need is an email address and a password — that's it. No phone number, no address, no date of birth.

We use your email for login, important updates, and — if you want — a newsletter with quiz tips (which you can unsubscribe from anytime).

I'm having trouble logging in — what should I do?

No worries, we'll sort this out! Here are the most common fixes:

  1. Forgot your password? Click "Reset password" at login — you'll get a link via email.
  2. Email not arriving? Check your spam folder! Unfortunately, some email providers (especially corporate accounts) block our emails. We're working on offering alternative login options.
  3. Account doesn't exist? Maybe you signed up with a different email? Try all the addresses you use.
  4. Browser issue? Clear cookies/cache or try a different browser.

If nothing works, drop us a line at support@kwizkid.live — we'll help you out within 24 hours!

Creating & Editing Quizzes

What question types are available?

kwizkid offers a whole range of question types:

  • Free text: Players type in their answer — the classic.
  • Single choice (Multiple Choice): Players pick the correct answer from given options.
  • True/False: A list of statements that need to be marked as true or false.
  • Estimation question: Players try to hit a number value as close as possible.
  • Sorting question: Options need to be put in the correct order.
  • Prose (long text): For more detailed answers — like poems or stories.
  • Image answer: Players upload an image as their answer.
  • Offline question: For tasks that aren't solved digitally — you assign points manually.
Can I have questions generated by AI?

Yes! In the question editor, you can choose between "Write yourself" and "Create with AI." Enter a topic, pick a difficulty and language, and the AI suggests a question for you. Keep in mind that AI-generated questions aren't always 100% accurate — so give them a quick look before adding them to your quiz.

There's a daily limit for AI questions on the free plan.

Can I change the question type afterwards?

Sure! Just click the question type icon at the top of the question — a dropdown opens where you can switch the type. Note that switching will remove the existing answer options.

Can I add images to my questions?

Yes — every question has an option to upload an image. The image will be shown to your players alongside the question.

Can I play music in my questions?

Audio questions aren't built directly into kwizkid. This is partly for licensing reasons, but also practical ones: imagine 200 people playing the same song slightly out of sync. Yikes.

Of course, you can play music through other means (Spotify, YouTube, your phone with a speaker) and then ask the matching question in kwizkid: "What song was that? Name the artist and title!"

Many hosts play music during the answer time and let teams guess — works like a charm!

Can I add links to the question text?

Yes! Simply highlight the text you want to link, and a formatting toolbar with a link option will appear.

Tip: If you have a URL in your clipboard, just highlight the text and paste (Ctrl+V / Cmd+V) — the link is set automatically.

Can I set question categories?

Yes. You can create custom categories for your quiz (e.g., Sports, Geography, Music). Each category gets its own score table — plus there's an overall ranking across all categories.

Can I add info slides without a question?

Currently, every slide needs a question type. If you want to show information or hints in between, your best bet is overlays — they let you display images or text for your players during the quiz. Alternatively, you can use an offline question as a placeholder.

Can I copy or reuse a quiz?

A quiz is generally intended for a single run. However, a copy feature and the ability to reuse quiz content are already in the works.

How do I create a good pub quiz?

A great pub quiz thrives on variety and balance! Mix different topics (general knowledge, pop culture, sports, history, geography) so everyone on the team gets a chance to shine. Blend easy, medium, and tricky questions.

Use different question formats: multiple choice for warm-up, free text for the experts, estimation questions for lively debates, image questions for variety. The AI question generator helps you create diverse content in no time.

A solid pub quiz has 20-40 questions and runs about 60-90 minutes. Key tip: throw in mid-quiz leaderboard reveals to keep the tension high!

How long does quiz preparation take?

With kwizkid — not long at all! If you grab a ready-made quiz from our library, you can be good to go in 5 minutes. If you're building a custom quiz from scratch, plan about 1-2 hours for 30 questions — including research, wording, and answer options.

With AI assistance, it's much faster: you provide the topics, the AI generates suggestions, and you pick and tweak. Pro tip: build up a stockpile of questions during your downtime!

How do I create fair multiple-choice options?

Crafting good multiple-choice questions is an art! The wrong answers (distractors) should sound plausible but be clearly incorrect. Avoid absurd options — that makes it too easy.

Use similar-sounding terms, related concepts, or common mix-ups. Example: "Who painted the Mona Lisa? A) Leonardo da Vinci B) Michelangelo C) Raphael D) Donatello" — they're all Renaissance artists, so it takes real knowledge!

Testing & Resetting Quizzes

How can I test my quiz beforehand?

There are two ways:

  1. Preview mode: In the question editor, you'll find a "Preview" button at the top. It shows you the quiz exactly as your players will see it — including all questions and answer options. However, you can't submit answers in preview mode.

  2. Play it yourself: Start the quiz and join as a player in a second tab (or on your phone). This way you can test the full experience. Just don't forget to delete the test team afterwards (it needs to be offline first — so close the player tab before that).

Does a test run count as "played"?

No. You can test your quiz as many times as you like without using up a purchased upgrade. Just remember to reset the quiz afterwards.

How do I reset my quiz after a test?

This is the question we get asked the most! Here's how:

Click the back button in the top left and navigate back step by step — from the winner ceremony to the evaluation, from the evaluation to the quiz, from the quiz to the lobby. Once you're back in the lobby, you can delete the test team and the quiz is ready for the next round.

Good to know: It doesn't matter what phase you're in — the button in the top left always takes you one step back.

If the quiz ever gets stuck and you can't proceed, just reach out to us — we'll help you out.

Hosting a Live Quiz

How do I start my quiz?

Once you've created your questions, click "Let's go" to enter the quiz lobby. That's where your players can join. Once everyone's in, hit "Start Quiz." Then you release questions one by one — at your own pace.

Can multiple quizzes run at the same time?

Yes, no problem. You can run multiple quizzes in parallel.

Can I lock individual questions?

Yes! During the quiz, you can lock any question individually using the lock icon. Locked questions can no longer be answered by players. You can also unlock them again if needed.

Is there a timer per question?

There's no automatic timer just yet. But you can achieve the same effect manually: just tell your players how much time they have for a question, then lock it with the lock icon when time's up.

Can I disable the chat?

Yes! In the quiz settings, you can enable or disable the player chat for each quiz individually. You can also toggle the chat on and off during a live quiz. Just open the chat via the icon in the top right and click "Disable chat."

What are overlays?

Overlays are images or messages you can display for your players during the quiz — for example for breaks, sponsor logos, or extra info. There are predefined overlays (like a drink break) and you can create your own.

For each overlay you set:

  • Where it shows up: Only in the presentation, only for players, or everywhere.
  • How long: Permanent (until you close it) or dismissible (players can click it away themselves).
Can I see the current standings as a host?

Yes. During the quiz, click "Winner Ceremony" in the top right — there you can see the current scores at any time. Note that free-text questions that haven't been evaluated yet won't be reflected there.

Can the players see the current standings?

During normal play, the leaderboard only becomes visible to players at the end with the winner ceremony. As a host, though, you can show the leaderboard to your audience at any time via an overlay — for example after each round. That way you decide when and how often your players see the scores.

Is there a presentation view for projectors or screens?

Yes! kwizkid offers a separate presentation view for projectors, second screens, or livestreams. You'll find the link in the quiz lobby under "Links to your quiz."

Setup:

  • Open the presentation mode link on the projector/TV
  • Control the quiz from your device
  • The presentation automatically shows questions, countdown, and leaderboards

Works with any HDMI-capable display, projector, or smart TV with a browser.

Can I control the quiz from my phone while the presentation runs on another device?

Yes, that's exactly how it's designed. With kwizkid, you host on your device while the presentation runs independently on another screen.

How do I host a quiz as a beginner?

Don't sweat it — quiz hosting is easier than you think! Start with a warm welcome, briefly explain the rules (team size, scoring system, how the game works), and do a quick tech check to make sure everyone's logged in.

During the quiz: read each question out loud, give teams time to discuss, keep an eye on the clock. In between, drop hints or share interim standings as you see fit — that's how you build suspense. Most importantly: stay relaxed and have fun! kwizkid handles all the technical stuff — you just need to entertain.

How can cheating be prevented in kwizkid?

To prevent cheating, make your questions specific and challenging — the more unusual and detailed, the harder they are to Google. Time limits help too: if teams only have 45 seconds, there's barely time to look things up.

Of course, it's nearly impossible to prevent cheating entirely. But that's not just a digital problem — it's the same with good old pen and paper. At its core, every competition relies on people playing fair. kwizkid trusts the integrity of its players.

High-value prizes for the winners often tempt even the most honest folks to bend the rules. That's why we recommend raffling off the biggest prizes among all participants. This keeps everyone engaged and gives equal chances. Plus, even last-place finishers are more likely to come back next time.

If someone just can't help themselves, you as the host can always disqualify teams (they can keep playing but are out of the running) or remove them entirely. Use the participant overview in the top right for this.

At the end of the day, the best anti-cheating strategy is to keep the focus on fun — because cheaters only end up ruining it for themselves.

How do I end a quiz professionally?

At the end, you can reveal the leaderboard at your own pace, step by step. Announce third, second, and first place with a bit of ceremony — ideally calling out team names. Thank everyone for playing and highlight any memorable moments.

For recurring events, announce the next quiz and build some anticipation. kwizkid automatically shows a slick finale screen with the winning team. And don't forget to ask for feedback!

Teams & Participants

What is the difference between team mode and single player mode?
  • Team mode (default): Players form teams and share answers and points. Each team occupies one slot — but there's no limit on the number of players per team. This is the classic pub quiz mode.
  • Single player mode: Each player signs in individually and collects points on their own.

You can set the mode in the quiz settings.

Does every team member need their own device?

No, not every team member needs their own device. It's enough for one team member to register the team and use a single device for signing up and submitting answers. How many players log into the team is up to the team captain. Flexibility comes first — the goal is to make participation as easy and accessible as possible.

How do multiple players play in one team?

All team members can play simultaneously on their own devices with kwizkid. When someone types an answer, the other team members see it live. The last answer submitted is the one that counts — so the team needs to coordinate.

What does the participant limit refer to?

The limit refers to the number of teams (in team mode) or players (in single player mode). The number of players per team is unlimited.

Example: With the free plan, up to 5 teams can participate — but each team can have as many players as it wants.

Can I limit the number of players per team?

No, that's not currently possible. Team size is up to the teams themselves. As a host, you can of course always set your own ground rules for your event and communicate them to participants.

Can participants change their answers after submitting?

Yes — as long as the question isn't locked and the quiz hasn't moved to the evaluation phase, players can change their answers at any time in kwizkid. Once you lock a question with the lock icon or end the quiz, answers are final.

Can I remove participants or teams?

Yes. In the participant overview, you can disqualify teams or players (they can keep playing but are no longer scored) or permanently remove them from the quiz.

Scoring & Evaluation

How does the evaluation work?

It depends on the question type:

  • Single choice, True/False, Estimation, and Sorting questions: Scored automatically — there's an objectively correct answer, so no human input needed.
  • Free text: Semi-automatically scored — kwizkid suggests ratings, but you decide how strict you want to be. Typos? Almost right? That's your call.
  • Prose, Image answer, and Offline questions: Fully scored by you manually — there's no clear "right or wrong" here, so you're the judge.
How does scoring work for estimation questions?

You set a tolerance range: answers within the tighter range get full points, answers in the wider range get half. Anything beyond that gets nothing.

How does scoring work for sorting questions?

This one actually uses a fairly complex mathematical method that calculates the order difference from the correct answer.

To keep it simple, here's the general rule of thumb:

  • All correct: Full points.
  • Almost right (a single element off by one position): Half points.
  • More than one error: No points.
Does answer speed affect the score?

No. In kwizkid, only the correctness of the answer matters — not how fast it was submitted. This is a deliberate choice: since all players use different devices and internet connections, it would be unfair if speed played a role.

What are the bonus/penalty points for?

The bonus/penalty points feature in the participant overview is designed for two special situations:

  1. Tiebreaker: If two teams end up tied, you can throw out a spontaneous question and give the winner a bonus point.
  2. Cheating: If a team gets caught cheating, you can deduct points.
Can I manually override the automatic scoring?

Unfortunately, no. For automatically scored questions (single choice, sorting, estimation), there's no manual override in kwizkid. For free-text questions, however, you have full control and decide yourself what's right and what's wrong.

When do players see their results?

The correct answers are only revealed to players at the end of the quiz — specifically, when you click "Reveal now" during the winner ceremony. This way you stay in full control of the suspense.

Can I reveal the correct answers after each question individually?

Currently, kwizkid only reveals answers all together at the end. A feature to reveal answers question by question during the quiz is in the works.

Tip for the meantime: You can simply announce the correct answers verbally while hosting — the answers are only hidden from the players; as a host, you can always see them in your view.

Presentation & Technology

Can I use kwizkid with Zoom, Teams, or Meet?

Absolutely! kwizkid works great alongside video conferencing tools. The typical setup:

  1. All participants are in the video call.
  2. Everyone also has the quiz open on their phone or in a second browser tab.
  3. You host the quiz through kwizkid and use the video call for communication.

Tip for Zoom with breakout rooms: Assign teams to their breakout rooms. Then announce the question in the main room, send teams to their rooms to discuss, and bring them back when time's up.

Can I play music or audio directly through kwizkid?

No, audio or video files can't be played directly through kwizkid. For an in-person quiz, music is better played through a separate sound system anyway. For remote quizzes, you can share the audio through your video conferencing tool.

Tip: Use the host notes to save links to songs or videos — so you have everything at your fingertips.

Is there a buzzer feature?

No, and there are no plans for one. Here's why: since all players use different devices and internet connections, a fair buzzer would be technically impossible. It would end up being about who has the better Wi-Fi, not who knows the answer faster — and that would be frustrating.

Can I display the quiz on my TV?

Of course! kwizkid has a presentation mode optimized for full HD resolution. In your quiz's host lobby, you'll find a button for presentation mode. Click it, and a new window opens that you can drag onto your external monitor or TV. It shows all the important info for your players.

Can I evaluate during the quiz?

Yes, with kwizkid you can evaluate answers and share interim standings while the quiz is still running. This means lightning-fast scoring with no delay after the quiz ends.

How long are questions visible or editable for players?

Questions can generally be answered throughout the entire game. In a quiz with 10 questions, you can still answer question 1 later in the game or change your response. However, you can also manually lock individual questions — then players can see what they entered but can no longer edit it. This lets you crank up the pressure to answer quickly and correctly.

Pricing & Billing

Is kwizkid free?

Yes! The free plan stays free forever. You can play up to 10 questions per quiz with up to 5 teams (or 5 solo players). That's plenty for trying things out or small get-togethers.

What do the paid upgrades offer?

With an upgrade, you unlock the limitations:

  • Single: Unlocks a single quiz — with unlimited questions and up to 20 participant slots. Perfect for one-off private events.
  • Flat: Unlocks all your quizzes, including AI assistance and additional features. Ideal if you quiz regularly, need more than 20 participant slots, or use kwizkid professionally (e.g., in bars, for corporate events, or training sessions).
How does the Single upgrade work?

The Single upgrade applies to one specific quiz and one run. You select which quiz you want to upgrade in your kwizkid account and pay a one-time fee.

Can I test my quiz before the actual event without "using up" the upgrade?

Yes! You can test your quiz as many times as you like — a test run doesn't use up your upgrade. Just reset the quiz after testing (click back step by step in the top left), delete the test team, and you're all set for the real event.

Alternatively, you can use kwizkid's preview mode, which works without actual players.

Can I cancel my subscription at any time?

Yes. You can cancel your subscription at any time. After cancellation, you won't be charged for the next billing cycle, and you keep the benefits of your plan until the end of the current period.

Are my payment details stored?

No. We don't see, process, or store your credit card details. All payment processing runs through our payment provider Mollie — for maximum security.

Where can I find my invoice?

You can request invoices directly in your account under "Orders." Enter your billing address there and we'll generate the invoice for you.

For business plans, you can of course also receive a VAT-exempt invoice if you provide a valid VAT ID.

Accidentally booked the wrong plan? No problem — just email us at support@kwizkid.live and we'll sort it out.

What if I need a custom offer?

No problem! Just reach out to us at support@kwizkid.live and we'll work out an offer tailored to your exact needs.

Are there discounts for schools or NGOs?

Yes! We love supporting educational institutions and nonprofits. Schools, universities, and NGOs can request special Education/Nonprofit pricing that's significantly cheaper than regular rates.

Just send us an email at support@kwizkid.live with a brief proof of your status (e.g., link to your school's website, NGO registration proof) and we'll put together a custom offer for you.

Are there group discounts for multiple licenses?

Yes, for companies, agencies, or organizations that need multiple licenses (e.g., different locations, multiple event managers), we offer volume pricing.

Drop us a line at support@kwizkid.live with your requirements and we'll put together a custom package. We often combine this with extra services like: onboarding training for your team, whitelabel options (kwizkid in your brand colors), or dedicated support.

What payment methods does kwizkid accept?

We accept all major credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express), debit cards, SEPA direct debit, EPS, Google Pay, Apple Pay, and PayPal. Payments are processed securely through our payment provider Mollie, which is an international standard — we don't store any credit card data ourselves.

For corporate clients, we also offer invoice payment via bank transfer, starting from a certain volume. Billing is monthly or one-time for single events. You'll automatically receive an invoice via email after each payment.

Customization & Branding

Can I add my own logo?

Yes, you can. In your account settings (Profile), you can upload a logo that will be displayed in place of the kwizkid logo in the top left. This feature is available in the Flat plan.

Can I customize the background or design?

A fully custom design isn't possible at the moment. However, you can freely customize the welcome text in the kwizkid quiz lobby and on the sign-up page, as well as upload your own logo.

Can I set a custom quiz URL?

Yes! In the quiz settings, you can set a custom URL for your quiz — for example play.kwizkid.live/play/your-name/my-quiz. Note: the URL can't be changed after the quiz has started.

Use Cases & Occasions

How do I organize a pub quiz night?

Preparation:

  • Pick a quiet weekday (Tuesday/Wednesday)
  • Promotion: social media, flyers, tell your regulars
  • Make it a recurring thing (e.g., "Every first Tuesday of the month")
  • Tech check: Wi-Fi, projector/TV, microphone

Prepare the quiz: With kwizkid, you can build a 30-40 question quiz in 1-2 hours.

On the night: Warm-up from 7 PM, kick off at 7:30, wrap up around 9:30. Build in ordering breaks in between — more revenue for you! Small prizes keep people motivated (drink vouchers, snacks).

Is kwizkid suitable for corporate events?

Absolutely! More and more companies are using quiz events for team building, onboarding, Christmas parties, summer festivals, or kick-offs.

The advantage: kwizkid works hybrid — meaning both on-site and for remote teams, or a mix. You can personalize the quiz with company-specific questions or play classic general knowledge rounds.

With our business plans, we easily support large events with 100+ participants.

Can I use kwizkid for team building?

Yes, and it works brilliantly! Quiz events naturally foster communication, collaboration, healthy competition, and fun at work.

Especially effective: deliberately mix up the teams. Don't just group by department — go cross-functional. That way colleagues who rarely interact get to know each other. You can also throw in company-specific questions to share knowledge about the organization in a playful way.

Does kwizkid work hybrid (on-site + online)?

Yes, that's one of kwizkid's superpowers! You can easily host a hybrid quiz where some teams are in the same room and others join remotely from home.

Everyone just uses their own device (laptop, smartphone), logs in with the same quiz link, and plays together in real time. On-site, you can project the questions onto a screen; online teams see them on their displays. Scoring works the same for everyone.

How much does a professional quiz event cost?

That's hard to give a blanket answer to, since it depends heavily on various factors. Feel free to reach out to us at support@kwizkid.live and tell us about your vision for your next event. We'll tailor a custom offer to your exact needs.

Is kwizkid suitable for kids' birthday parties?

Absolutely! Quiz events are a huge hit with kids aged 8 and up. The key is age-appropriate design.

Tips:

  • Topics: "Disney Movies," "Superheroes," "Animals," "Games"
  • Use the AI feature to quickly generate kid-friendly questions
  • Short rounds (max 10 questions), build in movement breaks
  • Lots of image questions — kids love visuals
  • Keep teams small (2-3 kids), set generous time limits
  • Fun prizes for everyone (not just the winners!)
Can I use kwizkid for school lessons?

Absolutely! Many teachers use kwizkid to make learning content fun and get students engaged.

Use cases:

  • Math: Calculations as estimation questions
  • History: Sorting dates in order
  • Geography: Capitals, flags as image questions
  • Languages: Vocabulary, grammar
  • Science: Experiments, formulas

The upside: students are way more motivated than with traditional tests, and teamwork promotes social learning. kwizkid works hybrid, making it perfect for blended learning. Use the quiz as a formative assessment, not a grade — that keeps the fun front and center.

How do I design a quiz for a wedding?

We've got some ideas for you!

Questions about the couple:

  • "Where did they meet?"
  • "What's the bride's dog's name?"
  • "What year did they get engaged?"
  • "What's their favorite travel destination?"

Mix in classic wedding trivia:

  • "Which country has the most weddings?"
  • "What's the most popular month for weddings?"

Use image questions with photos of the couple from different stages of their lives — seriously adorable! Form mixed teams from both families so everyone gets to know each other. Keep the quiz short (15-20 questions, about 30 min). Perfect after dinner, before the party kicks off!

Can I use kwizkid at virtual events?

Yes, kwizkid is made for virtual events! Especially at online conferences, webinars, or virtual team events, interaction is gold — and a quiz breaks right through that Zoom fatigue.

Setup:

  • You host the quiz as usual, share the link in the chat
  • You can screen-share your presentation mode in Zoom/Teams
  • Breakout rooms in Zoom can serve as team rooms

It works surprisingly well and brings life to virtual meetings!

Is kwizkid suitable for fundraisers?

Definitely! Quiz events as fundraisers are getting more and more popular. You can organize a charity quiz where the entry fee goes to a good cause, or auction off prizes.

How it works:

  • Promote the event on social media
  • Set a participation fee (e.g., €10 per team)
  • Use kwizkid for the quiz
  • Collect donations via PayPal or on-site

You could also get sponsors for individual questions. The upside: low costs, broad audience, high fun factor.

Tips & Tricks

How do I create viral quiz events on social media?

Social-media-worthy quizzes are all about shareability!

Best practices:

  • Build around trending topics (Netflix shows, sports events, memes)
  • Use catchy titles ("Only true 90s kids will score 10/10!")
  • Share highlights during the event
  • Create event hashtags (#QuizNightVienna)
  • Ask participants to post their results
  • Build in photo moments: winning teams with a trophy, funny team names
  • Use Instagram Stories/Reels with countdown stickers

Authenticity beats perfection: behind-the-scenes content often outperforms polished promos!

How do I find good quizmasters if I don't want to host myself?

If you'd rather not host yourself — no problem! Just drop us a line at support@kwizkid.live and we'll happily connect you with someone from our pool of professional hosts.

Which topics work best for mixed groups?

For diverse groups (different ages, backgrounds), broad general knowledge topics are the safe bet: geography, history, pop culture (movies, music), sports, science, food & drink.

Avoid overly niche categories. Mix different topics into each round so everyone gets a chance to shine. Current events work well too: "What happened in 2024?" Image questions with well-known faces, logos, or landmarks are universally accessible.

How do I handle complaints about difficult questions?

Transparency and humor go a long way! If a question gets called out as "too hard," stay cool: "Yep, that was a tough one — that's exactly why it's in there!"

Playing fair: If a question was genuinely flawed or ambiguous, own it, explain the correct answer, and score it as correct for all teams. That shows class.

If complaints keep coming, adjust your next quiz accordingly. Collect feedback after the event and learn from it. Most participants are forgiving when they can tell you're putting in the effort.

Should I offer prizes or rewards?

Not strictly necessary, but it can boost motivation depending on your audience!

  • Private rounds: Symbolic prizes — a bottle of wine, homemade cookies, a goofy trophy
  • Pub quiz nights: Drink vouchers or snack platters
  • Corporate events: Gift cards, merch, or an extra vacation day
  • Charity events: Emotional prizes ("Winners get to pick the charity cause")

The prize should match the audience. The real prize is the bragging rights anyway!

How do I keep quiz events fresh and varied?

Variety is key!

Strategies:

  • Rotate themes: A different motto each month
  • Switch up formats: Classic pub quiz one time, "Picture Round" the next, then a "Speed Quiz"
  • Invite guests: Local "experts" for special rounds
  • Seasonal events: Christmas quiz, Valentine's Day special, Summer Olympics quiz
  • Mix up team modes: Fixed teams one time, random the next, then a solo round
  • Special challenges: Blind taste test, sound guessing, emoji puzzle
  • Get feedback: "What do you want next time?"

Boredom is the enemy of recurring events!

How many questions should I have in reserve?

Always plan 10-20% more questions than you actually need. If your quiz has 30 questions, prepare 35-40.

Why? Sometimes you realize mid-hosting that a question doesn't quite work — then you can skip it and have a backup. Or a round goes faster than expected.

Sort your questions by difficulty: easy, medium, hard. If the group is struggling, slide in an easy one; if things are going smoothly, drop an expert-level bomb. Flexibility!

How do I document my quiz events for portfolio or marketing?

Documentation strategies:

  • Photos: Audience (with permission!), leaderboard, winning teams
  • Videos: Short clips (15-30 sec) during exciting moments — perfect for Reels
  • Testimonials: Ask 2-3 participants for quick on-camera feedback
  • Screenshots: Of the leaderboard, funny team names, close final results

Turn these into a portfolio page or Instagram highlights. Show variety: different locations, audiences, occasions!

What are the most common beginner mistakes in quiz hosting?

The classics:

  1. Too many hard questions: Overwhelming people kills the vibe
  2. Unclear rules: Explain upfront: team size, scoring system, time limits
  3. No tech check: Test Wi-Fi and projector BEFORE guests arrive
  4. Too monotonous: All multiple choice all the time gets boring
  5. Bad timing: Too fast or too slow
  6. No breaks: 40 questions straight and everyone's wiped
  7. No backup plan: What if tech fails?
  8. Taking it too seriously: It's a game, not a final exam. Have fun!

Every audience is different. You learn something new with each quiz — learning by doing!

Do I need to click save every time?

Nope! All inputs in kwizkid are synced live. Every entry is saved instantly, so all players can see what's been typed at the same time. No extra save button needed.

This is especially handy in team mode: when multiple people answer on one device, everyone sees what's being typed in real time. This auto-sync feature also prevents answers from getting lost if the internet connection hiccups briefly.

I need help creating questions, I always find it so difficult.

No worries at all! We've got a bunch of well-tested quizzes ready to go in our library. Browse around, pick one, and customize it to your liking.

You can also use our AI integration. Just throw in a few keywords and you'll get ready-made questions with matching answers. Just double-check that everything's correct though — even AI can get things wrong sometimes.

Many hosts also build up a personal question collection over time that they remix and recombine.

Is there a single player mode?

kwizkid is designed for teams competing against other teams. But you can absolutely go solo! Just create your own team and skip the team invitations.

Then you play solo against other teams — or, if everyone's playing solo, it's a classic single player quiz. Works just as well as team mode, just without the table debates.

Can I add a logo?

Yes! You can upload your own logo and it'll be displayed in your quiz — great for corporate events or professional quizmasters.

The logo appears in the presentation mode on the projector, on the lobby page, and on the leaderboard. With the Business/Enterprise plan, you can even replace the kwizkid logo entirely, so only your branding is visible (whitelabel).
